Chemistry laboratory

The term “chemical laboratory” refers to those premises in which chemical work is carried out on a non-industrial scale.

For laboratories working with hazardous substances, the Hazardous Substances Ordinance (GefStoffV) applies. The basis for this are the Chemicals Act (ChemG) and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG).

Also important are the Technical Rules for Hazardous Substances (TRGS), which are drawn up by the Committee for Hazardous Substances (AGS). The rule TRGS 526 "Laboratories" applies, for example, to laboratories in which hazardous substances are used according to chemical, physical or physical-chemical methods.
